Her lavish apartment on Manhattan's Upper East side - bought through a family trust - was recently valued at $35 million. And, as Joan publicly stated , everything goes to Melissa Rivers . However, the comedienne's goddaughter Tracie Hotchner has revealed that Joan also left  'clear provision' for her rescue dogs, Samantha and Teegan, who lived with her in New York, as well as a Jack Russell Terrier and a Border Collie in California.  Scroll down for video  goddaughter Tracie Hotchne...

Justin Sellers/The Clarion-Ledger Robert St. John (Photo: Special to The Clarion-Ledger) The following is the second in a four- installment summer column series covering my top 10 dining experiences for breakfast, lunch, dinner and brunch in New Orleans. There are a few items to note: This list purely subjective . Everyone has varying tastes and preferences. This is not a ranking of overall quality from a critical/review standpoint. This is my personal list. These are my personal favorites. Everyone has personal connections to restaurants. These happen to be mine. According to the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau, there are more than 1,400 restaurants operating in New Orleans today. That’s an impressive number for a city with a population of only 390,000. There are obviously hundreds of restaurants I have yet to visit, though there are dozens of others in each category that I have dined ...

As Trump ranted and rambled in Phoenix, his crowd slowly thinned

President Trump gave a contentious speech at a campaign rally in Phoenix on Aug. 22, attacking the media, GOP senators and "obstructionist" Democrats. Here are the highlights. (Jenny Starrs/The Washington Post) PHOENIX — Just before President Trump strolled onto the rally stage on Tuesday evening, four speakers took turns carefully denouncing hate , calling for unity and ever so subtly assuring the audience that the president is not racist. Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson proclaimed that “our lives are too short to let our differences divide us.” Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr ., led everyone in singing a few lines of “How Great Thou Art .” Evangelist Franklin Graham prayed for the politically and racially divided nation and asked the Lord to shut the mouths of “those in this country who want to divide, who want to preach hate.” And Vice President Pence declared that “ President Trump believes with all his heart … that love for Amer...

Traveling to see the total solar eclipse - CNN

Editor's Note — For complete coverage of the Eclipse of the Century go to cnn.com/eclipse. Columbia, South Carolina (CNN) — Three minutes before darkness fell in the middle of a hot South Carolina afternoon , Angela Picot and her sisters noticed that the crickets had started chirping. At 2:40 p.m. ET, one minute before the sun was completely blocked by the moon, the streetlights at the South Carolina State Capitol complex turned on. Those gathered started cheering as the city of Columbia plunged into complete darkness and the sun's corona became visible to the naked eye. "That was worth the entire trip," Picot said. "It was totally worth it." When Picot saw the path of the 2017 solar eclipse on NASA's website last October, she knew she was heading to South Carolina . A high school engineering teacher in Smithfield, Virginia, Picot drove six hours on Friday, August 18, to her sister's place in Columbia, bringing her 14-year-old daughter Kylie Saw...
