Two men suspected of brazenly breaking into cars early Friday evening led police on a chase through Petaluma, fleeing on foot after an officer rammed a patrol car into the suspect’s vehicle in an attempt to end the pursuit, police said. Around 5:20 p.m., police received reports that two men associated with a white Chrysler sedan were smashing a car window in the parking lot of the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets , according to a news release from the Petaluma Police Department . Whether it was the summer heat or a carefully planned series of debuts, at least 10 South Carolina bands have released or are releasing EPs or full-length albums this August. What would seem like an impressive feat is seemingly becoming the norm. The question is whether there are significantly more bands cropping up in the South Carolina music scene , or has it just become much easier to self-release music in the digital age? The last time Alicia Craig saw her brother, Gary Craig Jr., he was excited to show her his new apartment in Winston-Salem. She never got to see the apartment that her younger brother moved to in February. He was found dead near the apartment in July. “I kept saying ‘I’m gonna come by,’ but I never had a chance and that’s what hurt me so much,” she said. “He moved here to be closer to me. The long retail spine of Sydney Road, Brunswick, just north of Melbourne's CBD, was once a prosperous trading outpost on the way to the goldfields. These days it's a bohemian mix of variety stores, op shops, halal butchers and Lebanese bakeries. Take a side street to the west, however, and a different picture emerges. Sandwiched between Sydney Road and the Upfield train line is an area undergoing rapid and widespread transformation. Light industry is fast being replaced by mid- rise apartment buildings , their inhabitants attracted by the short commute into town and cheaper prices than in the city's south-east. The quality of these units is, on the whole, depressingly bad; think poor ventilation and bedrooms that "borrow" natural light (a weasel word for being dark and windowless).
