Willow Brook Golf Course moving clubhouse as part of massive mixed-use plan

Allen Township has cleared the way for the first step of moving the clubhouse and pro shop at Willow Brook Golf Course as part of a mixed-use development of 700 homes and a village center. The Fuller Family Trust was granted approval Tuesday by township supervisors for the transfer of a liquor license from the existing clubhouse to a new one planned to serve the golf course. Board approval of the transfer was necessary because it crosses municipal boundaries – the present clubhouse falls within North Catasauqua while the new one will be within Allen Township . Under the development plans , Willow Brook Golf Course would be reduced to nine holes. Plans call for an existing “L” barn used for boarding horses during equestrian events at Willow Brook Farms to be converted into the new clubhouse and pro shop, said Christopher Lloyd, a trustee for the Fuller Family. The 2,000-square-foot structure, located in the middle of the farm, will be re-purposed in order to provide seating for...

Bklyn. affordable housing plan faces delays due to de Blasio

Image
When Mayor de Blasio held a press conference in May 2014 to debut his new affordable housing plan , his full- color presentation touted a project called Spring Creek in Brooklyn. Spring Creek was flagged as a “case study” partnership between the city and developers to “create a strong, vibrant and self-sustaining neighborhood.” But on Friday, the bulk of that project remained a big, ugly vacant field of weeds and abandoned roadway in East New York. More than 1,500 of 1, 803 planned affordable units are now in a bureaucratic Twilight Zone — and may become less affordable as a result. “There is no progress from the progressive mayor ,” said the Rev. David Brawley, a leader of East Brooklyn Congregations , one of the groups sponsoring Spring Creek . Brawley said the delays to Spring Creek caused by the de Blasio administration are particularly ironic given that the mayor cited the project in his promise to build or preserve 200, 00...

Stuart Gardyne: Who's afraid of Shelly Bay?

STANTIALL STUDIO/SUPPLIED OPINION: Here's a question: where do you take guests from out of town on a sunny weekend in Wellington City ? Chances are Shelly Bay isn 't at the top of your list. Not yet, that is. We now have a once-in-a-generation chance to create a modern and authentically Wellington destination that all of us will be able to enjoy. A laidback spot to enjoy a picnic, grab a coffee or simply relax and watch the world go by. That's why I'm so disappointed to see opposition from the Miramar Business Improvement District to the proposed plan. What they're doing in effect is trying to keep more Wellingtonians out of the area. The project is set to achieve high sustainability outcomes , such as carbon neutral operation , but while the news has been welcomed by many in the property industry , it has also raised questions about just how replicable this model of public housing funding is. Apartment complex with 256 units proposed near Mall of Georgia | News

A more than 250- unit apartment complex could be coming to the area between the Mall of Georgia and Coolray Field. The site is east of Buford Drive and just south of Interstate 85 in the Mall of Georgia Overlay District . “The proposed development would add an important component to that encouraged mix of uses,” attorney Shane Lanham wrote in a letter to county officials. “Moreover, the proposed development is consistent with established development patterns and land uses in the area. “More intense commercial and office uses are dominant along major travel corridors with land uses transitioning to lower density developments moving off the roadway. The property is not located directly on Buford Drive, but on Laurel Crossing Parkway behind existing commercia...
