Northgate fire victims locked out as their apartments are looted

Nearly every day, Kristen Bass travels to the Park Meridian apartments in Northgate, seeking reassurance that important pieces of her life are still intact. The 30- unit apartment building where she lived for 18 months was badly damaged in an Aug. 5 fire, leaving Bass and about 70 other tenants searching for new homes while the insurance company documents the extent of the damage, and the landlord makes plans for the building’s demolition. Bass is certain that irreplaceable belongings survived the fire — her family photos, childhood mementos, and a box of her late sister’s belongings that she can’t talk about without breaking into tears. Two men suspected of brazenly breaking into cars early Friday evening led police on a chase through Petaluma, fleeing on foot after an officer rammed a patrol car into the suspect’s vehicle in an attempt to end the pursuit, police said. Around 5:20 p.m., police received reports that two men associated with a white Chrysler sedan were smashing a car window in the parking lot of the Petaluma Village Premium Outlets , according to a news release from the Petaluma Police Department . Within a few minutes, police located the Chrysler in the parking lot, though the driver immediately sped away from the 2200 Petaluma Blvd . North retail complex . Two people shot on Kristin Drive

Two people who were shot late Tuesday night on Kristin Drive are expected to survive their wounds after being rushed to Vidant Medical Center , the Greenville Police Department reported . About 11:50 p.m., dispatchers sent officers to the 100 block of Kristin Drive off S.W. Greenville Boulevard for a report of shots fired, the department reported . When they arrived, the officers discovered that two young men had been shot. The victims, Randell Maleak Turnage , 18, and Robere Summers Coward , 19, were transported to the hospital with serious but not life threatening injuries , according to reports. While on the scene, officers discovered an apartment and an unoccupied vehicle had also been struck by gunfire. There were no additional injuries, although the police report listed two adults, two teenagers and two juveniles living in the building as additional victims.
