One arrested after apartment fire on W. Brookstown Drive

BATON ROUGE - One person was arrested after firefighters responded to an apartment fire on W. Brookstown Drive Saturday night, according to the Baton Rouge Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the apartment complex in the 4200 block of W. Brookstown Drive near Prescott Road just before 8 p.m.

Crews arrived on scene to find fire coming from the front of one of the upstairs apartments, according to BRFD.

Firefighters checked all nine apartments in the building to make sure everyone was out. The fire was contained to the apartment it started in, and was controlled in about 30 minutes, BRFD said.

The building received heavy smoke damage as a result of the fire. One person was checked out by EMS but was not transported to a hospital. Red Cross was contacted to assist residents of the complex.

One arrest was also made, according to BRFD. Details on the arrest have not be obtained at this time.
