Three Sanford men were arrested on murder and other charges after they tried to break into a third-floor apartment and the tenant fatally shot a fourth accomplice, the Lake County Sheriff ’s Office said Monday. The resident, Luis Robles, 29, said he was at home at Raintree Apartments, east of U.S. Highway 27 in Four Corners, when he heard banging on his door a little before 3 a.m. Saturday, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Fred Jones said. He looked through the peephole, opened the door and a man said, “Hey,” then fired a shot at Robles that missed his head and hit a wall, an arrest report states . Robles returned fire and hit the man, later identified as Aswad Emmanuel Velazquez , 22. He fired more shots as Velazquez tried to get up, according to the report. “I have an emergency — someone is shooting in my house,” Robles tells a dispatcher in a 911 call, adding that he didn’t know the assailants. RICHMOND, Va. -- One woman was killed and a second woman was hurt after an argument led to a shooting outside a South Richmond apartment complex . The fatal shots were fired on Green Cove Drive , outside the Blue Ridge Estates apartment complex , at about 10:40 p.m. Thursday. Two women were heard arguing in the parking lot when the shots were fired, Crime Insider sources told Jon Burkett . "Officers responded and located the female with a gunshot wound to the leg, but also found a female nearby in a vehicle who was unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound ," a Richmond Police spokesperson said. "She was pronounced dead at the scene. The other victim was transported to a local hospital with an injury that was not considered life threatening ." Police have called the incident a "death investigation" and said the Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death. When Mayor de Blasio held a press conference in May 2014 to debut his new affordable housing plan , his full- color presentation touted a project called Spring Creek in Brooklyn. Spring Creek was flagged as a “case study” partnership between the city and developers to “create a strong, vibrant and self-sustaining neighborhood.” But on Friday, the bulk of that project remained a big, ugly vacant field of weeds and abandoned roadway in East New York. PARMA -- Two brothers were shot early Saturday outside Forest Ridge Apartments , 5601 Chevrolet Blvd. Joseph Elsleger, 30, was shot once through the torso and Kenneth Elsleger, 27, was shot once in the neck. Police believe it happened during a robbery attempt. They said the wounds were serious but not critical. On Monday, Kenneth Elsleger was listed in fair condition at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Police said Joseph Elsleger was also taken to Metro but on Monday a hospital spokesperson said there was no record that he had been there. A developer proposing an apartment building with a mix of market-rate and affordable units just east of Redwood City’s downtown is hoping to increase the city’s housing stock by 125 units. Though a public hearing date has not yet been confirmed for the six- and seven- story apartment building containing 15 studios and 57 one-bedroom and 53 two-bedroom apartments at 353 Main St., Alex Sanchez, executive vice president at ROEM Corporation, the developer, said plans for the building are ready for public comment after a year of preliminary work with city staff. “I think we’re ready to take this to public for a hearing,” he said. “Our initial submittal is basically a starting point.” Expected to occupy a lot where one- story office buildings currently stand next to a four- story luxury apartment complex , the building would border Redwood Creek on its southern end. TRENTON -- The year was 1917 and the Roebling complex's Clark Street Rope Shop in Trenton reopened after being gutted by a fire two years earlier. The new building was ultramodern for its day, with steel trusses, fire-resistant materials and massive windows that flooded the space with natural daylight. It's here where the wire used in Charles Lindbergh's Spirit of St. Louis plane was believed to be manufactured. Now, a century later, the building has been reinvented as the Roebling Lofts with 16-to-24-foot ceilings, 10-foot windows and environmentally friendly features .
