Lakewood police investigate home burglaries, car and wheel thefts: police blotter

Burglaries: Police received two calls about residential burglaries the evening of Aug. 16. One call involved a home on Warren Road and the second was on Elbur Avenue.

Burglary, Parkwood Road: Police were called about 7:45 p.m. Aug. 15 to a home about a break-in.

Criminal damaging, Madison Avenue:Police Aug. 17 discovered graffiti painted on a pavilion by the playground in Madison Park.

Wheel theft, Olive Avenue:A resident called police about 1:45 a.m. Aug. 15 to report hearing two people talking outside her home. One of them said, "Shut the door." When the woman looked outside, she saw a newer model two-door black SUV in the middle of the street. It began driving away southbound. She also saw a Honda parked in the street with all the wheels missing. Police have said the thieves appear to be targeting Honda vehicles.

Wheel theft, Roycroft Avenue: Police discovered a car about 3:12 a.m. Aug. 15 parked in the street with all four wheels missing.

Wheel theft, Franklin Avenue: Police discovered a car about 3:23 a.m. Aug. 15 with its wheels missing.

Wheel theft, Lakeland Avenue: Police about 3:45 a.m. Aug. 15 discovered a parked car with its wheels missing.

Wheel theft, Lincoln Avenue:Police discovered about 8 a.m. Aug. 14 a parked car with all four wheels taken off.

Wheel theft, Bayes Avenue:Police took a report about 10 a.m. Aug. 12 about rims and tires being stolen off a car overnight.

Stolen vehicle, Madison Avenue: A man called police about 7 p.m. Aug. 14 to report his car was stolen while he was working. A man he knows had asked earlier in the day for a ride, but the complainant refused, saying he was working. The complainant suspects the man who asked for the ride may have taken his keys and his car.

Grand theft of a motor vehicle, South Lane Drive:An apartment resident told police about 1 p.m. Aug. 13 that his vehicle had been stolen. It had last been seen about an hour earlier.

Breaking and entering, Parkwood Road: A resident reported Aug. 12 that two bikes were taken out of the garage.

Petty theft, Detroit Avenue: Police were called to a tavern about 3 p.m. Aug. 17 on a report that $400-$500 had been taken out of a safe overnight.

Petty theft, Newman Avenue:A resident Aug. 15 reported to police that someone entered his parked vehicle and went through the contents.

Driving under the influence, Detroit Avenue:Police arrested a woman about 3:30 a.m. for operating a vehicle while impaired and having an open container.

Criminal damaging, Riverside Drive:Police were called to an apartment building's parking lot about 9 a.m. Aug 12 about vehicles in the back lot having broken out windows.
