STARKVILLE -- A 16-year-old suspect, arrested last year for his suspected involvement in a murder, is in custody for a fatal Thursday night shooting at Brooksville Garden apartments on Everglade Avenue near West Side Park.
Oktibbeha County Coroner Michael Hunt confirmed 20-year-old Deontay M. Rogers was pronounced dead after he was admitted to OCH Regional Medical Center at about 9:21 p.m.
A Friday morning press release said Starkville Police Department arrested 16-year-old Tomas Bradford, of Starkville, Thursday night after the shooting.
Bradford was already out on bond for murder and armed robbery charges related to a March 2016 incident at Camelot Apartments. That shooting resulted in the death of 17-year-old Dacorian K. Coleman.
It's currently unclear if there is any connection between last year's shooting and Thursday's incident.
The incident is still under investigation, and SPD expects more charges to be filed.
Bradford is booked at Oktibbeha County Jail. His bond was set at $2 million Friday morning.
