Man jailed on suspicion of killing friend whose body was found in SW Portland apartment
A man was jailed early Wednesday on suspicion of killing his friend, whose body was found inside a Southwest Portland apartment.
Paris McConville is being held without bail in the Multnomah County Detention Center. McConville told authorities after his arrest that he and the victim, Ryan D. Thompson, had stayed at the same residence.
The Oregon State Medical Examiner ruled Thompson, 35, died of homicidal violence. The Portland Police Bureau hasn't released details about the circumstances of his death.
McConville told authorities he knew Thompson, a friend, for about 10 years.
McConville, 34, went to the bureau's Central Precinct on Tuesday afternoon to report someone was dead, police said in a news release. McConville pointed police to an apartment on St Clair Avenue near West Burnside Street in the Goose Hollow neighborhood, and officers found Thompson dead inside.
McConville, who told police he had been living with his father on St Clair Avenue since Friday, is set to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon.
The case remains under investigation. Police ask anyone who has information to contact Detective Anthony Merrill at 503-823-4033 or anthony.merrill@portlandoregon.gov.
