Springfield man stabbed in the thigh; police are investigating | Local

SPRINGFIELD — Police were investigating a stabbing at the Lindsay Apartments on Fifth Street in Springfield on Wednesday that might be the result of domestic violence, according to officers at the scene.

At noon Wednesday, a 40-year-old man with a stab wound to his upper thigh came running from his girlfriend’s apartment to a neighboring apartment asking for help, Springfield Lt. Scott McKee said.

The neighbor called 911, and medics rushed the man to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield for what was described at the scene as an arterial bleed. His condition was unknown.

Detectives were investigating whether the stabbing was the result of domestic violence or an accident.

At the scene, police questioned the victim’s 24-year-old girlfriend, who was seated on the curb across from her apartment, next to a stack of bloody towels. She eventually was led back inside the residence by police, who were wearing black rubber gloves, for further investigation.

A 16-year-old boy and three girls under age 13 were inside the apartment during the stabbing.

No arrests have been made.
