Independence police investigate shooting at Hawthorne Place Apar

INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) -

Police in Independence are investigating a shooting at the Hawthorne Place Apartments near Fifth Street and North Spring Lake Drive. 

The shooting happened Sunday around 6:04 p.m. 

Independence police say the victim is a woman. She was shot by an unknown individual while standing outside of the apartment complex. 

Police believe the gunman may have been target shooting in a field near the complex, but police are still investigating.
