Suspect in Pottstown murder arrested | Reading Eagle

A homeless man wanted in the stabbing death of a Pottstown man on High Street in July has been apprehended in Philadelphia.

Steven Holmes, 54, is charged with first and third-degree murder and possessing instruments of crime in the July 30 killing of Diamonde "Klutch" Stone, 35.After an arrest warrant was filed Aug. 1, the Montgomery County district attorney's office said Holmes knew he was wanted and fled the Pottstown area. He was found Tuesday night in Philadelphia.The incident took place in the 300 block of East High Street just after 10:30 p.m. Prosecutors say that Holmes pulled a knife during an altercation between the two men and stabbed Stone in the chest. One witness told police that he saw the fight from his apartment.Another witness said she allowed Holmes and his wife, Carolyn, to stay at her apartment, and that after the incident, Carolyn told her that Steven Holmes had "stomped" Stone.Holmes came into the apartment with blood on his arm, police said, and told the woman that he had gotten into an argument with Stone over money and that he had stabbed Stone in the arm.Holmes was arraigned Wednesday morning before District Judge Edward C.
