Amherst police investigating reports of shots fired near Townehouse Apartments

AMHERST -- Over a half dozen town police officers responded to the Townehouse apartments early Sunday morning for reports of a fight and gunshots.

Officers from the UMass Police Department were also called in to help with the incident.

A caller from the nearby Brandywine apartments reported what he thought were gunshots.

According to police records, officers closed off a crime scene and searched the area. They also brought in K-9 Marvin to search for evidence. 

There were no injuries or arrests but police are continuing to investigate.  

No further details were available.
