Police: Man tried to damage ex's property in burglary
SCHENECTADY — A city teen broke into his ex-girlfriend's apartment and damaged items last month, authorities said.
Nicholas Chandrkuar, 18, of Brandywine Avenue, faces a felony burglary count, as well as misdemeanor aggravated harassment and attempted criminal mischief counts. Police arrested him Wednesday.
Chandrkuar is accused of breaking into the fellow teen's residence July 21, taking two hats from inside, attempting to damage them outside before returning them and fleeing, according to papers filed in court.
Chandrkuar is also accused of repeatedly sending the victim threatening text messages that day, according to papers.
