Police searching for suspect after SWAT called to apartment on near northwest side

Scene of SWAT standoff on Aug. 15, 2017

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Police are searching for a man they say somehow snuck out of his apartment Tuesday morning during a SWAT standoff.

Officers were called to Pangea Cedars Apartments at 34th and Falcon on the west side around 4 a.m. They described this as a “domestic” situation and said a possibly armed suspect was inside the apartment.

Investigators say the suspect, identified as Marcus Ford, 30, of Indianapolis, choked his girlfriend and then refused to come out of the apartment. The victim was able to get out of the apartment safely.

When SWAT officers went inside, they found Ford had already taken off.

Police are now urging Ford to turn himself in.

“It’s very important that you turn yourself in, it’ll make everything easier on you, your family, and everything,” said IMPD officer Genae Cook.
