An OU student died after being shot at an apartment complex near 1852 E. Lindsey St. April 23. The Norman Police Department located 20-year-old Nathaniel Ewing, who was an OU sophomore, in the parking lot of the Willowbrook Apartments complex just before 11 p.m. Sunday night with a single gunshot wound to his abdomen, according to a press release. Ewing later died at a local hospital on April 24, according to the release.  Witnesses said that Ewing and another individual were the targets of an attempted robbery in the apartment complex parking lot , during which two shots were fired, according to the release.  Two suspects drove away from the scene in a light- colored sports utility vehicle , according to the statement. The NPD has identified and interviewed a person of interest, but the incident remains under investigation, and no suspects are currently in custody. GRAYSON COUNTY , Texas -- Flash flooding overwhelmed Grayson County over the weekend. Parts of Sherman received more than 9 inches of precipitation in a month that -- on average -- delivers around 2 inches of rain. Motorists found debris on the streets and some roads were blocked by high water.  Homes suffered flood damage as Post Oak Creek quickly rose by four feet. The hardest-hit residences were along Washington Street, Regency Circle, and Contemporary Drive. At least 19 families were evacuated, and the American Red Cross is offering assistance. The South Carolina Arts Commission has a lofty goal. This important government agency has set its sights on developing for all of the citizens of our state a “ thriving arts environment , which is essential to quality of life, education, and economic viability.” To that end, the SCAC has long been committed to supporting the work of individual artists. Indeed, for over forty years, annual monetary awards have been granted to those arts and crafts practitioners who have generated work of “ superior artistic merit .” To honor the nearly ninety SCAC Fellows to date and to commemorate the Commission’s fiftieth anniversary , fifteen solo and group exhibitions have been planned across the state for 2017-18.
