One dead after shooting at Greenville apartment complex | News

One person is dead after a shooting at a Greenville apartment complex Friday afternoon.

Officers with the Greenville Police Department and medical personnel responded to a call of a gun shot wound shortly after 2:30 p.m. Friday to the Stone Ridge Apartments located at 6002 Stonewall Street in Greenville. Police scanner traffic indicated that the wounds inflicted were fatal.

The name, age and gender of the victim is currently unknown. Greenville Police officers at the scene did not comment on the nature of the incident, only deferring questions to Greenville Public Information Officer Kathy Lucas. Lucas stated that information was still being gathered. An official statement from the city had yet to come by press time.

The Stone Ridge Apartments are located directly across the street from Bowie Elementary School.
