Chicago Illinois Vintage Apartment One Block from Lake Michigan

About this assignment

I am seeking a pet/apartment sitter for 1 adult indoor cat from October 15 - October 31, 2017.

My adult female cat is 11 years old and is very self sufficient, but will get lonely if left alone for long periods of time. I seek someone with pet sitting/house sitting experience, with references, a police check, and who is willing to put down a refundable security deposit.

I seek a person who is conscientious and respectful of my living space. I am looking for one person or a couple who are quiet dwellers, as there are other people living above and below my unit.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I am seeking a cat lover who will pet and talk to my cat, feed her morning and evening, scoop litter daily, and use my home as his/her home with the cat. He/she will need to treat my living space as their own, keep it clean and secure, and leave it as found on arrival.

I have some house plants, but they will not need care while I am gone.

I would like the sitter to pick up my mail downstairs and keep it in the apartment until I return.

What are the good features of the property and location

I live in an eclectic and diverse neighborhood of north Chicago, IL. Some of the advantages of my location are:
- one block from the shores of Lake Michigan;
- a few blocks South from a bike path that goes all the way down the beaches of the lake past downtown Chicago;
- 2 blocks from the major Red Line subway transportation system;
- near to 2 major universities;
- 20 minutes (with good traffic) to multiple Chicago neighborhoods, including the Loop;
- access to Chicago museums and art institutions;
- free laundry in the basement of my building;
- very sunny South-facing 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment;
- 2nd floor walk-up (no elevator);
- WiFi works best in the back of the unit.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

I seek someone with pet/sitting experience, with references that I can contact, a police check, and who is willing to put down a refundable security deposit. I am a renter, so the sitter will need to abide by my rental agreement (thus the security deposit). My landlord will be notified of the sitting situation, and given your name and contact information.

At the present time, the building is for sale. Potential buyers have been looking at the building. Showings are scheduled 48 hours in advance by a realtor (name and contact information will be given to the sitter). This may not be a factor by October, as the building may be sold by that time. Nonetheless, the sale will not impinge on this sitting, as I have a lease which cannot by law be broken by a new owner.
