GUILDERLAND — Early Sunday morning, software programmer Premjeet Sougrakpam was at home, sleeping in his Regency Park apartment , as were his wife, her mother, and the couple’s two sons — one of them three years old and the other born just five days earlier.  They were awakened by a loud bang at about 4:30 a.m. When they ran to a back window to see if something was wrong, they saw flames outside, near their patio. Sougrakpam reached for a phone and called 911, while the women each grabbed one of the children. They made their way outside, where residents from the other nearby apartments were also gathering.  “I came barefooted, just the pajama, and the phone I had used to dial 911,” said Sougrakpam.  There was no time to get anything else, not even car keys or passports, he said. COATESVILLE >> A city man who’s had previous run-ins with the law suffered a non-fatal shooting at the Regency Park Apartments on Monday night, and he’s now in intensive care . Police were called to the 600 block of Victoria Drive at approximately 9:47 p.m. for a shooting, and upon arrival, officers located 25-year-old Jamil Battle, who was shot once in the lower back, police said. Battle was then transported to Paoli Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is currently in the intensive care unit , police said. Coatesville Police Chief Jack Laufer said Battle was found inside an apartment when police arrived on the scene, but it’s unclear where Battle was when he was shot. GUILDERLAND, N.Y. -- A fire at a Guilderland Apartment Complex off Western Avenue has displaced 13 residents, including several young children. "A lot of panic, a lot of fire, I thought the whole building was going down," described one resident. Scorching flames lit up the early morning sky Sunday in Guilderland. "People were just waking up, getting out of bed, the call came about 3:30 a.m.," explained Westmere Fire Chief Henry Smith . "Some of the folks that got out of here have no clothing, some have just pajamas they're wearing," said Red Cross volunteer Erik Gebhardt . "I don't even know if they have their travel documents," the resident said. The Red Cross said about a dozen residents lost their homes along with mostly everything inside.  Gebhardt said they were in a "state of shock, it's hard to lose absolutely everything." A home at Regency Park apartments on Sycamore Drive reportedly was burglarized between 8 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. A TV, DVD player and a stereo, valued at $930, were stolen. A resident said the home had been locked, but officers found no evidence of forced entry, according to an Athens- Clarke County police incident report .

GRAYSON COUNTY , Texas -- Flash flooding overwhelmed Grayson County over the weekend. Parts of Sherman received more than 9 inches of precipitation in a month that -- on average -- delivers around 2 inches of rain. Motorists found debris on the streets and some roads were blocked by high water.  Homes suffered flood damage as Post Oak Creek quickly rose by four feet. The hardest-hit residences were along Washington Street, Regency Circle, and Contemporary Drive. At least 19 families were evacuated, and the American Red Cross is offering assistance. Rosa Baeza can no longer call her house "home." "We had to stay in a motel yesterday," she said. "We thought we can get an electrician to get the power back on, but it is not that easy."
