Carriage Hill Apartments Building 12 Damaged By Fire

The fire at Building 12 was due to electrical wires in the building. The fire source was reportedly located in apartment 1213, an Athens Fire Department report stated . Arson is not suspected in the case. Update 2/28/17 @ 12 p.m. The Ohio State Fire Marshal is still investigating the origin of the Carriage Hill Apartment fire , but has linked a natural gas leak in Building 12 to the fire, according to spokesperson Kelly Stincer . Update 2/27/17 @ 6:16 p.m.  The report from the Athens Fire Department estimates damage from the fire at the Carriage Hill Apartments to be more than $2 million. Flash flooding overwhelms parts of Grayson County - KTEN.com

GRAYSON COUNTY , Texas -- Flash flooding overwhelmed Grayson County over the weekend. Parts of Sherman received more than 9 inches of precipitation in a month that -- on average -- delivers around 2 inches of rain. Motorists found debris on the streets and some roads were blocked by high water.  Homes suffered flood damage as Post Oak Creek quickly rose by four feet. The hardest-hit residences were along Washington Street, Regency Circle, and Contemporary Drive. At least 19 families were evacuated, and the American Red Cross is offering assistance. Rosa Baeza can no longer call her house "home." "We had to stay in a motel yesterday," she said. "We thought we can get an electrician to get the power back on, but it is not that easy." Baeza and her husband live on Contemporary Street along with many other residents who also suffered significant damage from the flooding. Child Killed, 3 Hurt In Antioch Apartment Fire

ANTIOCH, Tenn. - A child has died in an early- morning apartment fire in Antioch. Three others were injured in the blaze.  The incident was reported before 4 a.m. Monday inside building 9 at the Stone Ridge Apartments on Piccadilly Row. Damage is extensive at Stone Ridge Apartments from a deadly fire. pic.twitter.com/vI199WE91X — Blayke Roznowski (@NC5_Blayke) August 7, 2017 Officials said 3-year-old Elizabeth Dessie died in the fire.  Her father, 33-year-old Endalamaw Dessie Tesfaye suffered burns over 80 percent of his body. Her mother, 32-year-old Ehitayehu Dessie and her 5-year-old brother were in stable condition in the hospital. The blaze was isolated to only one building. Red Cross workers were called in to assist 22 displaced residents .  The cause of the fire was unknown.
