Check Out This Adorable Puppy Room Under the Stairs

The latest in viral cute overload, one man built his French Bulldog a mini-mansion under the stairs and Twitter went bananas for it.

On Friday, a man by the name of Al (@Al_Chris16) tweeted that his brother built a separate room in his house for the dog, and the interwebs just could not with how adorable the DIY project turned out.

Even hip-hop stars from around the world went all mush for the cleverly designed small-space canine hack. My husband tipped me off to the "Hairy Pawter" style under-the-stairs puppy lair, who saw it retweeted by one of the singers (and crazy dog dads) of Ireland's Rubberbandits — just one of the nearly half a million people who've since showed their love on social media for the project.

Ever since space-maximizing tiny home building shows became a thing, more and more people are realizing that even in their regular-sized homes there's one big glaring space that's being seriously under-utilized: the vacant void under your stairs. Just open up that drywall and voila! A world of possibility, a playroom or "Wendy house" as some call them, a special space of their own — whether for your human child or your "fur kid."

Featuring a tap light, framed family photos, a plush dog bed, dog bowls and mat, the custom constructed nugget nook is far from a new project — hundreds of similar ideas have been shared on Pinterest over the years — but the sentimental touches of this particular project really hit the heartstrings this week, at a time when clearly everyone needs as much of the softer side of life as we can get.

From canine-sized sliding barn doors to faux brick walls and pendant lamps, it's clear that when it comes to DIY home projects and space-maximizing ideas, dogs are people, too.

If you can't get enough of the little puppy palace, check out this under-the-stairs buddy bedroom for a chihuahua we featured last year — that even includes a miniature brass bed and teeny, tiny place to hang his hat — and these pugs who have their own furnished bedroom in a Comfort, Texas antiques shop.

If carving out a room of Ranger's own ain't your thing, we also has a list of more genius things people have done with the space under their stairs.
