Tower at Erieview and Galleria go up for sale, as RAIT presses pause on apartment plans (photos)

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The owner of downtown Cleveland's fourth-tallest building is doing an about-face, marketing the Tower at Erieview and the adjacent Galleria shopping mall for sale after more than a year of exploring a partial conversion of the skyscraper to apartments. RAIT Financial Trust recently put the buildings on the market, at an undisclosed price. A listing package from real estate company HFF , Inc., started making the rounds last week. The 40-story tower, at East 12 th Street and St. Clair Avenue, is only 45 percent leased, according to HFF's listing materials. The glassy, barrel- shaped Galleria is 60 percent leased. The property also includes a 421- space parking garage . The Baltimore- based developer plans a six-story, 148- unit luxury apartment building on the wooded 12-acre parcel near the intersection of Falls Road and Northern Parkway in North Roland Park . The project faced significant opposition from some residents in North Roland Park concerned about increased traffic, despite receiving the support of two neighborhood associations. Blue Ocean has agreed to preserve more than half the site for forest conservation or green space. The project includes a parking garage, swimming pool, fitness center, media room and an indoor sports court . Blue Ocean President Jonathan Ehrenfeld said the project will be the area’s first new apartment community in several decades. A timeline for the start of constr

MTC no more: Raintree reverting back to student housing | Provo News

PROVO — After serving as a portion of the West Missionary Training Center campus for nearly two years, the Raintree Commons apartment complex will be restored as apartments for eager students to lease. Newborn Baby Found In Missing Pregnant Woman’s Apartment « WCCO

FARGO, N.D. (AP) — Fargo police have arrested two people in connection to a missing pregnant woman and a newborn baby being found in an apartment building where she was last seen. Police Chief David Todd released a statement early Friday saying a 32-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit kidnapping. Formal charges are pending. The missing woman, 22-year-old Savanna Greywind, was last seen at her apartment Saturday afternoon . Authorities found a newborn in an apartment in the building Thursday but haven’t said whether Greywind is the baby’s mother. The two suspects are Greywind’s neighbors. King of the Hill: How Vail Resorts Conquered the Ski Industry

Image
Since it was installed in 2010, the "orange bubble" chairlift at The Canyons in Utah has become the resort's most iconic feature. The high-speed quad, which whisks skiers 8,700 feet to the summit of Lookout Peak in just nine minutes, was the first in North America to have heated seats and a plastic shield — the bubble — to protect riders from frigid air and snow along the way. It's just like a gondola, but you don't have to take off your skis. Any skier would love it. But Robert Katz is not any skier. He's the CEO of Vail Resorts, the $1. 4 billion resort powerhouse that owns The Canyons. Vail bought the resort in 2013, and then — through a mix of luck, lawyers, and shrewd business — snatched up neighboring Park City Mountain Resort in 2014, merging the two into a single mega-resort now known as Park City. Vail now owns 14 resorts, which have a total of 305 lifts, and Katz thinks long and hard about all the little things that go into making the properties s
