Carriage Hill Apartments Building 12 Damaged By Fire

The fire at Building 12 was due to electrical wires in the building. The fire source was reportedly located in apartment 1213, an Athens Fire Department report stated . Arson is not suspected in the case. OVERLAND PARK, Kan. -- Two children, ages 3 and 5 years old, died in an overnight fire just before 2:30 a.m. at the Colonial Gardens Apartments in Overland Park. Seven others, including their mother, were injured. The family confirmed that the children are five-year-old Henry Mendoza-Carter Jr. and three-year-old Alexis Mendoza-Carter. Alexis and Henry Mendoza-Carter were tragically killed in an apartment fire early Tuesday morning in Overland Park, Kansas. The young girl and her older brother apparently became trapped in a multi-unit fire in the 8800 block of Broadmoor. The fire led some residents to throw themselves out windows and caused others to brave burning staircases to reach safety. Fire crews were called at about 2:30 a.m. to the Colonial Gardens Apartments , located in the 8800 block of Broadmoor Court. While on the way to the scene, units received reports of victims trapped in the complex and immediately called for a second alarm. Firefighters say a family was on the bottom floor of the apartment complex when the fire started. They say an infant and a seven-year-old were able to make it out but a three-year-old and a five-year-old were killed in the flames. The mother of the children was taken to an area hospital with minor burns. The children's father was seen walking around the area, distraught over the loss of his children. Colonial Garden Apartments fire kills two children in Overland Park

Two young children were killed and several others were injured when fire swept through their apartment building early Tuesday in Overland Park. The children’s mother and three men from another apartment were taken to the hospital for treatment of their injuries in the fire at Colonial Gardens Apartments , 8845 Broadmoor Court, according to Jason Rhodes, a spokesman for the Overland Park Fire Department . Two of the injured men reportedly jumped from the second floor to escape the blaze. Fire investigators are looking into whether there were working smoke alarms in the apartments. They have received conflicting reports , Rhodes said. The fire was reported shortly before 2:30 a.m. at the apartment complex. PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Fifty people are displaced and three people are hurt after a fire broke out inside a Northeast Philadelphia apartment complex early Tuesday morning. The injured include two people who lived in the building and one firefighter. A police officer on scene told Eyewitness News a female occupant of the building was revived by CPR. The fire started just before 12:30 a.m. inside a second floor apartment at the Canterbury Court Apartments at 9951 Academy Road. Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire coming from the apartment. Paramedics transported two people, one person who was inside the apartment and a neighbor from an apartment next door to area hospitals. Crews from the Overland Park Fire Department , Leawood Fire Department and Consolidated Fire District No. 2 responded to a call at the Colonial Gardens Apartments around 2:30 a.m. this morning and found heavy smoke and flames pouring from the front and back of a two-story building. Several burn victims were already outside the structure, but firefighters got word that others were trapped inside the structure. Crews got the call around 8:40 p.m. Tuesday and say flames were already showing when they arrived. Back up was then requested. Crews were able to evacuate the apartment and no one was injured. Fire at Bridgeport apartment building displaces families

BRIDGEPORT - Officials in Bridgeport say a fire ripped through a housing complex in the north end of the city this morning, displacing several families. It happened at the Second Stone Ridge Co-op. The fire ripped through a household, destroying it and heavily damaging several others. According to authorities, the first call came in to 911 today around 10:25 a.m., reporting unit number four was on fire. Officials say the household was gutted and the family living there, including an elderly woman, now have no place to call home. The Red Cross is working to get them temporary shelter. Officials say the fire heavily damaged at least two other units in this co-op, which residents own individually. No one was seriously hurt, and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The fire happened about noon in the 3400 block of Winifred Row Lane at Berkshire Reserve near Golden Gate, fire officials said. The fire started in the kitchen and caused substantial damage . No other injuries were reported. Huge fire breaks out in London apartment complex | World

A huge fire that broke out at an apartment complex in London's west side area late Saturday night is now under control, London Fire Brigade said. Over 60 firefighters were engaged in the attempt to douse the blaze, which took place in Bayswater's Kensington Gardens Square . London Fire Brigade responded to the call at around 6:50 PM (local time), it said, adding that more than eight fire tenders were deployed in the process. Two flats in the apartment complex were seriously damaged, officials explained. “This was a challenging fire and crews worked hard to contain it and to stop it from spreading further than the two affected flats," Nick Saunders – the station manager present at the scene – said, according to British tabloid The Sun. Saunders added, as per the publication, that “a turntable ladder was also used to fight the fire”. No casualties were reported.

Residents displaced after apartment fire in northwest Oklahoma City

OKLAHOMA CITY - Fire crews extinguished an apartment fire in northwest Oklahoma City Friday night . Crews were called to the Valencia Apartments near N.W. 23rd and Meridian. Officials say the fire started because of food on the stove. The fire and smoke damage was contained to one apartment. One person was transported for smoke inhalation. Damage estimates are currently pending.

Red Cross workers were called in to assist 22 displaced residents .  The cause of the fire was unknown.

ALBEMARLE COUNTY , Va. (NEWSPLEX) -- Multiple people at an apartment complex in Albemarle County had to find another place to sleep after a water main break . It happened at Stone Creek Village Apartments . Albemarle County Fire officials say seven units were damaged after a sprinkler head fell from the third floor. The water trickled down to the apartments below, causing people to quickly gather their belongings and evacuate. There's no word on the total cost of the damage.
