Independence police investigate shooting at Hawthorne Place Apar

(KCTV5) INDEPENDENCE, MO (KCTV) - Police in Independence are investigating a shooting at the Hawthorne Place Apartments near Fifth Street and North Spring Lake Drive.  The shooting happened Sunday around 6:04 p.m.  Independence police say the victim is a woman. She was shot by an unknown individual while standing outside of the apartment complex.  Police believe the gunman may have been target shooting in a field near the complex, but police are still investigating.  If you have more information, contact the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS or the Independence Police Department at 816-325-7777. Woman shot outside Independence apartment complex

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. — A woman standing outside an apartment complex in Independence was shot Sunday evening . Police said officers were dispatched to the 600 block of N. Spring Lake Drive just after 6 p.m. to investigate a shooting at the Hawthorne Place Apartments . Advertisement Police said a woman was shot by an unknown subject while she was standing outside of the complex. Officers are still investigating, however, they believe the woman was shot by someone target-shooting in a field just northwest of the apartment building. The woman suffered a serious gunshot wound and was rushed to an area hospital. Woman in Independence shot, possibly by target shooter

A woman was struck by a bullet Sunday night that may have been fired by someone target shooting in a field, Independence police said. The incident happened about 6 p.m. at the Hawthorne Place Apartments , in the 600 block of North Spring Lake Drive . Police tweeted the woman was standing outside within the apartment complex. The bullet may have come from a field to the northwest. The woman was being treated at a local hospital. Most people who traveled to Hot Springs, Arkansas, in the 1880s did so to soak in the mineral baths in hopes of improving their physical health. Not so Samuel Alexander Doran , native Kentuckian and ex-Confederate major. In late fall 1883 Doran , who seldom visited a place without having some kind of confrontation (often deadly), was en route from New Orleans to the spa town in the Ouachita Mountains in hopes of improving his financial health.
